Opposition MP Bhoe Tewarie

‘govt breaking law on vat’: Opposition MP Bhoe Tewarie in Parliament on Tuesday.

CARONI Central MP Dr Bhoe Tewarie says the 15 per cent increase given to CEPEP and URP workers will cause public sector unions to demand at least a similar wage increase.

Speaking in the budget debate in the House of Representatives on Tuesday, Tewarie said he was happy for the increase in the wages of URP and CEPEP workers.

But he raised the question of what it would do to the industrial relations climate.

“If I am a trade union going to the table, where you think I would start in terms of my negotiating position? At 15 per cent,” he said.

Tewarie also said Government was breaking the law on the issue of VAT refunds.
