Alicia Narine

Alice was born and raised in Fyzabad. She attended the Fyzabad Presbyterian school and then Siparia Junior Secondary. She completed her schooling at the Fyzabad Composite school. Her schooling in secondary school ignited her passion for fashion. She obtained her certificate in Dressmaking and design and is now a successful fashion designer. She agrees with Kaustav Dey marketing director of Tommy Hilfiger India, “Fashion gives us a nonverbal language of dissent and encourages us to embrace our authentic selves.”

Artistic, inspired and driven, Alicia is extending her portfolio, pursuing studies in visual art.

She has worked with different Churches doing community work helping the hungry and homeless. She is people-centered and wants to see her community and her country thrive.

She wants to break the cycle of poverty that has left us broken and immobile. Hence her reason for joining the Progressive Empowerment Party (PEP). She truly believes that we deserve a better Trinidad and Tobago.


While many citizens were celebrating being able to return to beaches and cinemas, the business community said it was disappoin­ted with the relaxed measures announced by Prime Minister Dr Keith Rowley yesterday.

THE previous three articles in this series told the stories of people who died by suicide from the perspective of the loved ones they left behind. Today, we conclude the series with the story of a young woman who attempted suicide and lived through it. Her daily struggle with depression and suicidal thoughts underscores the extent to which people with suicidal ideation need ongoing support. The final part of this series also focuses on the important role which all of us play in preventing suicide.
