up-to-date evidence: Health Minister Terrence Deyalsingh

Health Minister Terrence Deyalsingh has responded to an Express editorial which noted a fall in public confidence in the health system over the past year. This drop was indicated in a poll commissioned by the Express and conducted between September 1 and September 5 by data analytics firm Solution By Simulation Ltd (SBS) headed by Nigel Henry.

The poll was done to measure public sentiment on various issues, on the fourth anniversary of the People’s National Movement (PNM) in power. Confidence in health institutions came in at 17 per cent in 2019, down from 22 per cent in 2018 and 20 per cent in 2017. In his response to the Express editorial, Deyalsingh stated, “I have noted the contents of the editorial in the Daily Express of Monday 9th September, 2019 and herby submit an official response to highlight just some of the key accomplishments within the public health sector.”
