If you are planning to visit St Lucia, the month of May is the time to do so. The Tourism Authority invited members of the media to attend 2019 Saint Lucia Jazz Festival produced for the first time in collaboration with Jazz at Lincoln Center. Some of the international jazz stars included Gregory Porter, Dianne Reeves and Christian McBride. From the Caribbean we saw St Lucia’s Boo Hinkson and Augustin 'Jab' Duplessis, from Barbados we saw Arturo Tappin and Etienne Charles from Trinidad and Tobago.
The visit to the island also included a Day trip to Soufriere the "world's only drive in volcano"; which is located towards the southwestern side of the island. Our next stop was Toraille Waterfalls which is just a stone's throw away from the scenic main road, which passes through the community of Fond St. The breathtaking waterfall gushes 50 feet over a cliff side and cascades into a pool at the center of a charmingly landscaped garden. Next we visited Tet Paul Nature Trail which is also located in the south-western town of Soufriere where we got a view of the famous Piton Mountains.
The Jade Mountain Resort is a must when visiting the island, we were treated to a sumptuous lunch prepared by Chef Allen Susser. His cuisine is exotic and delicious with a history of fusion. We also got a taste of the delicious chocolates, some with a mango filling, made in house. The rest of our stay we enjoyed music from some of the biggest jazz artists at St Lucia jazz 2019 which ended on May 12.
