Three people have been killed over a 24-hour period in separate incidents in Barataria, St Augustine, and Tunapuna.
Their deaths have pushed the murder toll up to 297. The comparative toll for the same period in 2019 was 382. The deceased are Richard Stewart, Kimberly Ramsaran, and Kevon Goddard.
The latest incident took place about 12.05 a.m. yesterday along Seventh Avenue, Malick, Barataria. Police were told that residents heard a volley of gunshots, following which they discovered Stewart’s bullet- riddled body.
In St Augustine, a 22-year-old woman is in police custody after she fatally stabbed Goddard during a confrontation at his home.
Police were told that about 8.35 p.m. on Monday, the two were at a home along Orange Grove Road, St Augustine, when they got into an altercation. The confrontation became physical, and the woman claimed she was attacked.
In Tunapuna, Ramsaran’s nude body was found in an abandoned structure along Centenary Street, about 5 p.m. on Monday. There was a gaping wound to the right side of her neck, which resembled that of a chop wound. Ramsaran, 29, was last seen alive about 11 p.m. on Sunday at the structure by a friend.
Police told the Express that Ramsaran’s body was found in the bedroom of the structure which is a ‘known location for drug addicts’. This scene was visited by Insps Joseph and Boodhoo.
