Faris Al-Rawi--use-this-one

Attorney General Faris Al-Rawi

There are cases of babies under one year old being raped in Trinidad and Tobago and there are also hundreds of alleged rapists walking around and not registered on a sexual offenders registry.

This is according to Attorney General Faris Al-Rawi, who provided statistics of the “very ugly” reality of T&T as he spoke on the Sexual Offences (Amendment) Bill, 2019, at the Parliament sitting yesterday.

Al-Rawi lamented that there are victims waiting as much as 14-plus years for rape cases to be deliberated. The AG quoted statistics from the Children’s Authority child sexual abuse publication, from May 18, 2015 to October 31, 2015.

The age ranges of

sexual abuse are:

0-11 months - 0.4 per cent

1-3 years - 5.4 per cent

4-6 years - 11 per cent

PASTOR Glen Awong yesterday lashed out at Police Commissioner Gary Griffith, saying he was not an evil pastor and Griffith should apologise.  The founder of the Transformed Life Ministry and Rehabilitation Centre is also accusing the police of using excessive force when Griffith and officers of the Special Operations Response Team (SORT) raided the centre on Wednesday and “rescued” 69 drug addicted and mentally ill patients.
