A DOUBLE murder in Port of Spain last evening has pushed the toll to 501 for the year so far.

Details were not immediately available but the Express was told the incident happened just after 7 p.m.

Residents of Lady Chancellor Hill heard several loud explosions and, upon investigating, they found a man identified as Clevon Gill, 35, and his son Keon dead in the front seats of a white Nissan sedan.

Crime scene investigators were processing evidence at the location last night.

In an unrelated incident, it took almost two days for the body of a murdered Arouca man to be found.

The victim was Joel Melville of Arouca.

His bullet-riddled body was found just before 10 a.m. yesterday in bushes off Cemetery Trace off the Arima Old Road in Arouca.

Residents heard gunshots at about 11 p.m. on Wednesday and notified the police.

Officers from the Arouca Police Station responded but did not find Melville’s body.

It was not until yesterday morning that his body was found.

A resident of the area was walking along the road when he detected a stench.

Upon investigating found Melville’s decomposing body in nearby bushes. He appeared to have several gunshot wounds to the head.

The police were notified and a team of officers under the supervision of Snr Supt Paul and Supt John responded.
