Following is the conclusion of the poll:
Unenthusiastic reception of Government policy
The public is largely unsupportive of the Government’s major policy initiatives over the past year. Not one of the four recent Government decisions examined in the poll was supported by a majority of those surveyed.
The Government’s handling of the closure and restructuring of Petrotrin could be seen as a major misstep. Just over one in three persons is satisfied with the way the Government handled the situation, and almost half the population is dissatisfied.
Likewise, the Government’s intention to introduce legislation to decriminalise the possession, distribution and consumption of marijuana is even more unpopular. Again, almost half the population opposes the measure, while only about one in four supports it. The remaining quarter of the population has no opinion.
