Opposition Leader Kamla Persad-Bissessar

Opposition Leader Kamla Persad-Bissessar has challenged Prime Minister Dr Keith Rowley to call the general election now and let the electorate decide if they have confidence in him to rule for another term.

“The real test, the real poll and the real barometer is the voice of the people,” Persad-Bissessar said last night at the United National Congress (UNC) public meeting in Eco Park, St Helena.

Persad-Bissessar was commenting on the findings of the 2019 Express-commissioned Nigel Henry poll on the performance of the Government after four years, which gave Rowley a 50 per cent approval rating. However, the poll also stated that citizens have little faith in the public institutions of this country and are concerned about pressing issues such as crime.
