The flooded T&TEC facility in Tobago

Despite flooding on its compound at Scarborough, Tobago T&TEC crews are positioned and ready to respond to customers in the wake of Tropical Storm Karen.

Crews have been responding to related call from Saturday night, into Sunday morning.

The T&TEC compound in Scarborough was flooded early on Sunday morning but by 8.30 a.m. flood waters were receding and 32 vehicles, including trucks and vans, were brought out of the yard to higher ground to enable speedy response.

There are approximately 13 areas out on the island at this time, mostly in the north and east. Crews are responding as quickly as possible, once the conditions are safe for them to operate (floods and heavy rains will delay response).

The Commission has also mobilised additional crews and trucks from Trinidad to assist in Tobago if necessary, once the sea bridge is reopened.

According to T&TEC, conditions in Trinidad are relatively quiet.

"We are currently treating with two areas out in the north and east, respectively. Other individual reports are also being addressed in the quickest and safest manner possible."
