"Baby in fridge" doctor re-arrested

A 17-year-old reversing out of the driveway of the family’s home, struck and killed an infant relative last Friday.

The deceased has been identified 18-month-old Adiah Samuel.

Police were told that at about 8.24a.m. the teenager entered his mother’s vehicle which was parked in the garage of the family’s home along the Eastern Main Road, Arima.

He had the intention of using the car to go to work.

However, as he was reversing the car out of the garage, Baby Adiah ran out onto the pathway.

The toddler came into contact with the vehicle, and was crushed, police said.

Relatives raised an alarm and rushed the injured child to the Arima District Hospital.

However, Baby Adiah succumbed to his injuries at about 9.38a.m. that day.

A post mortem was carried out on Monday at the Forensic Science Center in St James.

When approached, relatives declined to speak to the media.
