Hundreds are now homeless as Hurricane Dorian ripped apart buildings, blew roofs off, smashed vehicles and completely flooded entire villages in The Bahamas yesterday. The US-based National Hurricane Center placed Dorian as a Category Five hurricane, as it battered islands such as Abaco, Grand Bahama, Bimini and Berry Islands.

At 6 p.m. yesterday, Hurricane Dorian was packing winds at 185mph, but moving very slowly at 7mph heading west along the island chain. The island of Abaco was dealt a major hit first, with reports of some shanty villages such as the Mudd and Pigeon Pea destroyed, according to residents.
