THE Oilfields Workers’ Trade Union (OWTU) said yesterday it was successful in its bid for the Pointe-a-Pierre refinery without financial support from Suriname company Sunstone Equity.

“We realised no sooner than later that they could not have provided the finance for us and therefore we parted ways last year November of 2018. Since November 2018 to now, we have had absolutely no dealing with Sunstone Equity,” OWTU President General Ancel Roget said at a press conference at the union’s headquarters in San Fernando.
