An 18-month old boy is dead following an incident in Arima.

Baby Adiah Samuel died last Friday morning after sustaining critical injuries when he was hit by a car driven by a 17-year-old relative.

Police were told that about 8.24 a.m. the teenager entered his mother’s vehicle which was parked in the garage of the family’s home along the Eastern Main Road, Arima.

He intended using the car to go to work but as he was reversing the car out of the garage, unknown to him, Baby Adiah ran out onto the pathway.

The toddler came into contact with the vehicle, and was partially crushed, police said.

Relatives observed what transpired and immediately raised an alarm and rushed the injured child to the Arima District Hospital.

“The worst is almost over. Our best days are ahead, as a new society is being built on a sustainable prosperity for all.”
