The time has come for this country to look at Carnival as a true business, says National Carnival Commission chairman Winston “Gypsy” Peters. Peters issued an emphatic call for greater financial investment from Government and the private sector during his address at the NCC launch of Carnival 2020, yesterday evening, at the Queen’s Park Savannah, Port of Spain. The theme for Carnival 2020 is Rejuvenation: Better Than Ever.

“Often times I will hear people say we spending money on Carnival and we have no beds in hospital. They say we spending money on Carnival and we can’t get water. But let me tell you, spending money on Carnival is one of the best investments this country can make with immediate returns,” Gypsy said to rousing applause from a large Grand Stand crowd, among them Culture Minister Dr Nyan Gadsby-Dolly.
