THE body of a woman was found floating in the Gulf of Paria near the Hyatt Regency hotel in Port of Spain yesterday.

Up to press time last night, officers said they were unable to identify the woman or determine how her body came to be in the water.

Police said, shortly after midday, they received information that the body was spotted. Members of the Coast Guard were also contacted. They later retrieved the body and had it removed to the Port of Spain General Hospital where it will be stored until it is identified.

Officers explained that until the body is identified, an autopsy cannot be performed to determine the exact cause of death.

Detectives from the Port of Spain Criminal Investigations Department (CID) are continuing enquiries.


Police is seeking the assistance of the public in locating missing teenager Loreena Baboolal.

THE Trinidad and Tobago Defence Force military uniform is one which is quite distinctive, and what was shown in a video recording and photo by the Sunday Express yesterday, is not military attire.

So says retired Major General Ralph Brown in an interview with the Express yesterday.

Brown was responding to questions from the Express about the procedure used by the military, when choosing soldiers to assist the T&T Police Service, in exercises and the attire of these soldiers.
