An unidentified man was found dead on Monday night in Maracas,

St Joseph.

Police reported that at about 8.20p.m. they received information of a shooting along San Gregorie Road, Maracas St Joseph.

Officers of the St Joseph police station responded and upon reaching the vicinity of the Waterfall Road, they observed a silver Mazda Familia AD Wagon, and a white Hyundai H100 panel van along the roadway.

The two cars had their engines running and appeared to have sustained damage.

Initially police suspected the two cars had been involved in a road traffic accident.

However, upon closer inspection, they observed that the two vehicles had been abandoned, and there appeared to be bulletholes on one of the cars.

The officers did checks in the area and they observed the body of a man lying in a grassy area off the northern side of the roadway.

He appeared to have been shot to death, with wounds focused on his head.

The deceased was a man of mixed descent, dark brown complexion, slim built, 5’8” tall, low haircut and clad in a black jersey with a red short pants.

The scene was visited by a team of officers including ASP Gloden and Inspector Joseph.


The 35 Trinidad and Tobago nationals in Barbados have comple­ted their 14-day quarantine period and are to be tested for COVID-19 before a decision is made to bring them back to Trinidad, according to National Security Minister Stuart Young.
