A killer dressed as a hospital orderly made a late night visit to the Port of Spain General Hospital tonight and stood over a patient.
At least ten shots were fired on the patient who was on a bed on Ward 3.
The patient died and the suspect fled.
Ward 3 is located in the North Block of the hospital complex, near the Intensive Care Unit.
It was the scene of a fire earlier this year and patients had to be evacuated.
There is at least one nurse on duty on the ward at all times.
Visitors to the hospital say that although the visiting hours are between 11a.m. and 1p.m. and 4p.m. to 6p.m. a person can walk through the hospital unchallenged.
And security guards seldom confront a visitor outside of visiting hours.
The hospital is manned by guards employed with a private security company and by the North Central Regional Health Authority.
