Heavy rainfall sent a torrent of water down Argyle Falls, Tobago this afternoon, sweeping away eight people.
Of the eight people who were washed away to the lower levels of the waterfall and along the river, six were rescued.
The other two were found but described as unresponsive.
It happened at around 3p.m. today.
Fire fighters are at the scene.
The Tobago Emergency Management Agency (TEMA) and the Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) are responding.
Tobago’s highest waterfall is 175 feet or 54 metres high and the water flows down from three levels.
It is located in Roxborough and considered one of Tobago premier tourist destinations.
