A TTPost employee has tested positive for COVID-19 leading to the closure of the National Mail Centre in Piarco.
The closure was announced via a statement on Thursday which indicated that the branch would remain closed for sanitization.
“Trinidad and Tobago Postal Corporation (TTPost) wishes to advise the public that our head office at the National Mail Centre, Piarco will be closed on Thursday 6th August 2020, as an employee has been tested positive for the COVID 19 virus,” it said.
It added that the office would be reopened on Friday, with the exception of the branch’s finance department which will remain closed. Other offices throughout the country are expected to operate normally.
“All other offices will continue to provide normal services and customers will receive deliveries, including polling cards, pension, social welfare and NIS cheques.”

This after the TTPS has suspended its issuing of Certificates of Good Character until August 17. An advisory was issued by the TTPS informing of the suspension. No reasoning was given. However emergency cases were asked to call the hotline for assistance.
“Trinidad and Tobago Police Service (TTPS) wishes to advise members of the public that the Certificate of Character service has been temporarily suspended until Monday 17 August 2020.”
“The public is urged however in emergency situations, to call 6275217 ext. 12891 for assistance. The public is asked to refrain from calling on weekends and on Election Day, Monday 10 August 2020. In emergency cases, the public is asked to call between 8:30 am and 3:30 pm on the other days,” said the TTPS.
