FOR as long as I can remember, we have been a country plagued by corruption. The corruption continues to fester over decades as a result of our inability to govern with consequences. We have excused non-performance and corrupted behaviour by simply passing it off as “political bacchanal”.

Despite billions being unaccounted for, we simply as a nation accept the money gone and we proceed on with our lives as our hard-earned taxpayer dollars disappear into thin air. Corruption has naturally become embedded in our everyday life.

Nothing tells me more who won and who lost the local government election on Monday than the faces and reactions of those who represented their parties on TV that night.

I am disappointed and worried to see in the highest court of our country the elected members of Parliament aren’t taking the right step in finding a solution to reduce killings taking place in our country.
