Scarborough/Mason Hall Cricket Club (SMCC) and C&B United were double winners on the weekend as the Tobago Cricket Association’s 40-over tournament got underway.

On Saturday, SMCC beat Georgia by eight wickets at Shaw Park.

Batting first, Georgia were skittled for 49 with former Trinidad and Tobago player Navin Stewart and Jaime Boyce taking four wickets apiece. In reply, SMCC got to their target for the loss of just two wickets.

On Sunday, SMCC were at Roxborough to play Police. The lawmen batted first and were limited to 74, and SMCC got the runs for the loss of four wickets with Kelon Lynch leading the way with an unbeaten 34.

C&B United meanwhile flattened Charlotteville by 137 runs at Louis D’or.

Batting first, C&B were paced by Addison Daniel’s 147 as they made 240 for eight in just 30 overs. It was a total Charlotteville never got close to getting as they were bundled out for 103 in just 19.3 overs.

On Sunday, C&B United also piled up the runs in beating Club Crusoe by 68 runs. Batting first again at Canaan this time, C&B amassed 288 in 39.2 overs, with Ashaughn Pierre blasting 109. In reply, Club Crusoe got 66 from Leron Lezama and 47 from Andy Davis but still succumbed with nearly five overs to spare.
