English county championship side Middlesex have signed Barbados Pride and West Indies fast bowler Miguel Cummins to a three-year contract.
But the 29-year-old Cummins will be registered as a Kolpak player, ruling him out of contention for West Indies selection.
Cummins had a three-match spell as an overseas player with Middlesex last month, after he was recommended to the club by former West Indies head coach, Stuart Law.
“Stuart recommended that we get Miguel over to have a look at him on the back of the time he had spent with him while coaching the West Indies,” said Middlesex director of cricket, Angus Fraser.
“I had watched Miguel on video, but it is often only when you see someone play ‘live’ that you get a true reflection of their capabilities. I was immediately impressed by Miguel.”
