It was a derby of sorts but only one team made an impact. La Horquetta Rangers returned to winning ways with a 7-0 home victory over FC Santa Rosa, last season’s Trinidad and Tobago Super League champions, when they met in the Ascension Invitational Football Tournament on Wednesday.

Both based in Arima, the teams are within the proverbial stone’s throw away of each other, with Rangers located at the La Horquetta Recreation ground while, over the past few seasons, Santa Rosa have played matches mainly at the Arima Velodrome or the University of Trinidad and Tobago’s (UTT) O’Meara campus ground, a few hundred metres west of La Horquetta.
