USA WOMEN’S current sprint, keirin and 500 metres time-trial champion Mandy Marquardt blazed a new course record on her way to the gold medal in the Women’s sprint event when the first day of action in the PSL Fire on Wheels event concluded at the National Cycling Centre (NCC) in Couva on Saturday.

The 28-year-old easily defeated Canada’s Sarah Orban in two straight rides, Marquardt surging to the front and extending her advantage to the finish line with superior strength and speed.
