Former West Indies fast-bowlers Ravi Rampaul and Fidel Edwards have both struggled for success thus far in the latest round of England’s Specsavers County Cricket Championship.

After two days in their Division Two match away to Lancashire at Old Trafford, Rampaul’s Derbyshire face the likelihood of another long day in the field today when the hosts resume on 269-2. Lancashire are already 25 runs ahead of Derby’s first innings 244 and among their eight remaining wickets is Australian all-rounder Glenn Maxwell.

Rampaul struck in just the sixth over, having opener Josh Davies caught by Wayne Madsen for four; but from 12-1 Lancashire had a second-wicket partnership of 57 and the hosts will resume today with Josh Bohannon (150 not out) and Liam Livingstone (70 not out) looking to take their unbroken 194-run third-wicket stand further.

Rampaul has thus far sent down 16 overs, with figures of one for 41.
