Two teenagers died yesterday when a birthday lime turned tragic at Argyle waterfall near Roxborough, Tobago. Kharisha Thompson, a 15-year-old pupil of Scarborough Secondary School, and 19-year-old Chrislon Walters of Argyle drowned at the Falls.

In a news release last weekend, the board of directors of the Tobago Regional Health Authority (TRHA) stated that the services of Dr Rufaro Celestine, Medical Chief of Staff of Scarborough General Hospital (SGH), have been terminated effective immediately. “Clinical oversight of the Scarborough General Hospital will be undertaken by Dr Victor Wheeler, head of department, Obstetrics and Gynaecology,” the TRHA board added.

A large number of teachers and pupils stayed away from classes nationwide ­yesterday. In Tobago, 90 per cent of teachers did not report for work and, according to Trinidad and Tobago Unified Teachers Association (TTUTA) Tobago officer Orlando Kerr, calls for a nationwide shutdown were well supported.

One swine flu death has occurred in Tobago and one is undetermined.

The victim, a short crop farmer, is said to be a 56-year-old man of John Dial. He died on October 10 at Scarborough General Hospital.

THE police are searching for the suspects involved in the robbery of an elderly woman in Tobago. The woman, who remains shaken, was robbed of $8,000 outside her Bacolet home on Thursday afternoon.
